Goal Planning for your Marriage!

Do you have goals in for your marriage? Where will you be at in 1 year? 3 years? 5 years? Have you ever sat down with your spouse to make goals for your marriage? Is that important to do? You make goals for yourself, so why not for your marriage. You really don't want to stay in the same box for your entire marriage.

Most couples don't even think about this bu sit down and discuss things that you want to see take place in your marriage. The main areas you should focus on are physical attractions, financial statuses, housing, job, legal and health matters, and most of all family planning. There's nothing better than planning for growth within your family, no matter what way it comes from. Yes, I know life happens and there are some things that we can't control. But what about the things that you can control? Why not have a plan for when they take place, you will know how to handle it.

If you have the type of spouse that says, why don't you handle that stuff and just let me know when I need to step in. That is NOT the proper way to do it because you are not in the marriage alone. Just let him know that this is something that you all need to do together and is very important for the marriage. Let him even know that he can take lead on it.  It doesn't have to take long. It can be done in a two or three part series.

Items to have when the meeting takes place:
1) Notebook
2) Pens
3) Highlighters
4) Sticky Notes
5) Family Binder

Make sure you pray together before making this list. You have to be on one accord with each other. This process is not to cause an argument but an opportunity to place your future down on paper and you both see it and go for it! Put it in a place where you both can go back and forward to make any necessary adjustments needed and accomplishments.

You always want to see your marriage get better in the upcoming years.  Just like your personal goals, your marriage goals should be treated as a priority. Treat your marriage and family when a marriage goal is accomplished. It gives you something to strive for.  People don't plan to fail, they fail to plan!

This is a part of "Sweet 16" for your marriage because this can be part of your goals to make your marriage sweeter in 2016. Don't be scared to leap forward for better. Being stuck in a box never gets you anywhere.

Until next time, I'm off making goals for my marriage!!
