Summer Activities!

So, the official day is not here just yet, but normally when Memorial Day comes, we kind of say okay, it's summer time! Here are some ideas for activities to do and still have fun...ON A BUDGET!!

First, you MUST grab your calendar. I mean my calendar is my best friend and it is used very often. Sit down with your spouse so you both can be on the same page about different activities throughout the summer days.  Plan trips, doctor appointments, camp dates, etc. Also, have opened days so that you won't overwhelm everyone.

Secondly, create summer activities within your budget and at home. There are many local stores that have games and toys that you can purchase and have an outdoor day with the kids. Who said you have to spend hundreds on having fun? No one ever!

Thirdly, MOVIES and POPCORN! Check with your local Chamber of Commerce to see if they will be hosting any "Movies in the Park" this summer. Most of them are free or $5 maximum. If you don't want to go to a park, create a movie theatre at your home. You can purchase a projector, hang a white sheet either outside or hang one up in a room, and there you have it; your own movie screen at home. Oh yeah, don't forget the popcorn.

Academics. Now most kids don't want to hear about any academics while out for the summer, but you can make it fun. Do a math activity. Go to a local science center. A scavenger hunt regarding history facts. I mean, come on mom, you don't want to just sit the child(ren) down in front of notebook and book and say do this and that. Make it worth it.

POOL TIME!! I mean you can't have a summer without some type of swimming activity. Now, if you are fortunate to have your own pool at your home, that's great. POOL PARTY! I mean you knew that was coming. If you don't have a pool at your home, that's okay. There are many ways you can do this. Now depending on the size of your children, you can buy the small kiddie pool activity center, you know the ones that have different things to do than just sit in a pool. Or, you can purchase a large one that sits above ground for the family. But if you don't want to do that, you can load the family up and go to a waterpark. Those are FUN!!!

Last but certainly not lease, mommy and daddy date night! Now, I know summer is all about family time but you can't leave the two most important people in the family out. Schedule a baby sitter for you and the hubby to enjoy either a weekend getaway or just a night out on the town. It's important to get time with each other in because life happens throughout the year.

Your summer doesn't have to be based on your work schedule because we all have worked hard but we have to at our family harder. Have fun this summer. Make it count!!
